Sofia Boutella Biography
Sofia BoutellaShe’s French, of Algerian origin. Her father is Safy Boutella, composer and recognized choreographer.
She began dancing when at a very young age: She began studying classic dance in Algeria.
Her family moved to France when she was 10… then she started doing GRS (sporting gymnastic) & she even reached the championship of France. At 17, she was studying in a sporting school.
Then, she decided to begin HIPHOP dance: Time demonstrated she was right because her physical capacities quickly took her to gain several “Battles de France” (hip hop tournaments).
She’s worked with Bianca Li, famous choreographer (who was the choreographer of daft Punk’s video: “Around the world”).
From there on, everything starts to move fast: She takes part in the film “The Challenge” (“Le Defi” in French) (2002) and plays the role of Samia.
Then small roles follow in two French movies TV: “Permis d’aimer”, the Lila’s role and the series” Cordier, juge et flic”.Also you see her in advertising for Narta.
Sofia also danced with the VAGABON CREW (always in the place) and takes part to a creation called “Chienne de vie” and being a member of the Aphrodites troop create by Momo from the VAGABOND CREW.
But the breakthrough arrives later when the people at Nike decide to make hertheir icon for the femonine market… and that’s how she becomes part of Nike’s Public Image: HIPHOP dance as Women Sport.
Sofia put everyone on fire and got everybody taling about her thanks to those adds, that caused sensation around the world.
She worked with the choreographer Jamie King, famous American star’s choreographer for the famous RockStar Workout and will trip across the Europe.
Since then, she’s one of the Madonna’s dancers, you can see her in the video of “Hung up” and “Sorry”. She also danced in the Jamiroquai and Rihanna’s video (for Nike) and on the European tour of Mariah Carey.
